Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Electronic Detection K-9 at Press Conference

The Cobb County Sheriff's Office held a press conference on Friday, Sept. 20, to introduce the latest member of the team – K-9 Sherlock, an electronic detection canine.

The K-9 was donated by Defenders for Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse, trafficking, child pornography, and other related crimes. K-9 Sherlock is specially trained to detect various types of electronic devices, including laptops, cell phones, and devices submerged underwater. His handler is Deputy C. Cramer

K-9 Sherlock will aid the sheriff’s office in ongoing investigations aimed at protecting vulnerable children and stopping perpetrators.

Sherlock’s unique ability to locate hidden electronic evidence—such as micro-SD cards, external hard drives, and covert cameraswill not only enhance operations within the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, but will also be available to assist neighboring law enforcement agencies throughout the metro Atlanta area.
