Cobb County Sheriff’s Office to Hold Press Conference to Unveil Rare and Specialized Electronic Detection K9
Marietta, GA (September 20, 2024) – The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office will host a press conference to announce the addition of a highly specialized Electronic Detection K9 to its investigative team. This cutting-edge K-9, named Sherlock, generously donated by Defenders For Children, is one of the most advanced tools in law enforcement today and will play a crucial role in locating hidden electronic devices that often contain key evidence in cases of sex trafficking, child pornography, online predators, and other serious crimes.
K-9 Sherlock, partnered and handled by Deputy Cramer of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, is trained to detect hidden electronics ranging from micro-SD cards to external hard drives and covert cameras. These devices often contain critical evidence that is difficult for investigators to locate but essential for prosecuting crimes and rescuing victims.
One micro-SD card, for example, can store hundreds of thousands of abusive images, making it a priority to find such evidence. With Sherlock’s assistance, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office now has a powerful new tool to uncover electronic evidence that can be easily concealed, helping to ensure justice for victims of these heinous crimes.
The press conference will officially introduce Sherlock and provide a demonstration of his capabilities. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Sheriff Craig Owens, Deputy Cramer, and the team behind this groundbreaking initiative to learn more about how Sherlock will enhance the department’s efforts to combat crime.
Press Conference Details:
Date: Friday, September 20, 2024
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Location: 1825 County Services Pkwy SW, Marietta, GA 30008
Join us for this exciting unveiling as we showcase how K-9 Sherlock will strengthen our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable and ensuring that no piece of evidence goes undiscovered in the fight against crime.
