Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Recognizes Cadets for Heroic Actions Following Accident
Marietta, GA – The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes the swift and selfless actions of two Public Safety Cadets, Cadet Captain Aiden Decastro (Georgia Cyber Academy) and Field Training Officer (FTO) Cadet Alexander Rodas (McEachern High School), who came to the aid of accident victims on Saturday, August 2.
While returning home from dinner at the Marietta Diner, the cadets witnessed a motor vehicle accident on Macland Road. Without hesitation, both immediately took action to assist those in need.
Upon spotting an infant car seat in the middle of the intersection near one of the vehicles, Cadet Captain Decastro quickly contacted emergency services and moved individuals to safety due to a hazardous oil leak. Meanwhile, Cadet Rodas, FTO, assisted an injured passenger, providing comfort and encouraging controlled breathing to keep her calm.
In a particularly compassionate act, Captain Decastro cradled and soothed an infant who was crying uncontrollably, offering reassurance while the child’s injured mother was unable to hold her.
“These young cadets demonstrated extraordinary composure, leadership, and dedication to service during a critical situation,” said Sheriff Craig Owens. “Their actions reflect not only their training, but also their character and commitment to helping others and serving Cobb County. Their willingness to step forward in a time of crisis exemplifies the values of integrity, service, and compassion that the Cadet Program seeks to instill.”
The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Cadet Program is dedicated to inspiring, educating, and preparing young individuals for a future in law enforcement and public service. Through hands-on training, leadership development, and community engagement, cadets are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
The actions of Cadet Captain Decastro and FTO Cadet Rodas demonstrate the real-world impact of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Cadet Program. By providing meaningful training and instilling values of leadership and service, the program not only shapes the next generation of law enforcement professionals but also strengthens the safety and resilience of our community today.
