Cobb County Sheriff's Office Marks Milestone with “First Shots” Ceremony at New Training Range

Cobb County Sheriff's Office Marks Milestone with “First Shots” Ceremony at New Training Range

 

The Cobb County Department of Public Safety marked an important milestone on Friday, January 9, with a “First Shots” ceremony at its newly constructed gun firing range. Sheriff Craig D. Owens, along with members of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Command Staff, attended the event and safely fired the first ceremonial rounds to commemorate the new facility.

The ceremony highlighted the county’s continued investment in training, preparedness, and safety for public safety professionals. The new firing range will serve as a modern training resource designed to support firearms proficiency and operational readiness.

The official grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2026, at the Cobb County Department of Public Safety Firearms Training Facility.
