Colonel Ryan Mehling

Colonel Ryan Mehling has been employed with the  Sheriff’s Office since 2000. As a deputy, Mehling worked in the Detention Division, Domestic Violence Unit, Forgery Unit, Transport Unit, and Uniform Field Operations. While working Forgery, Mehling was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2007 and subsequently promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2013, and major in 2016. He has also served in the Criminal Investigations Unit and in Internal Affairs. In September of 2019, Mehling was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as the assistant division commander of the Uniform Field Operations Division. In April of 2022, he was appointed to the rank of Colonel and oversees the Uniform Field Operation Division.

Commander Mehling graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2000 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He is married with one child and attends St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Marietta.
