Cobb County Sheriff Hosts Free Family Fun and Hiring Event

MARIETTA, GA – The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a free, open-to-the-public family fun and hiring event, Saturday, July 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Cobb County Safety Village in Marietta, Georgia.

“The Sheriff wanted to create a hiring event that families of law enforcement applicants could be part of from start to finish,” said Cpt. Jacob Huval, Commander of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit. “Several of the staff are bringing their families to the event so that while applicants are conducting interviews and taking the physical agility test, applicants’ families can learn more about what it’s like to have a loved one serve as a deputy of the sheriff’s office.”

Applicants must arrive wearing fitness attire by 8 a.m. Upon arrival, applicants will present identification, receive a brief presentation from the recruiters, take a physical agility test (PAT) that will begin at 9 a.m., and then enter the interview phase of the hiring event if they successfully pass the PAT.

“This hiring event is happening rain or shine,” said Huval. “We only have 44 slots left to fill, and we want to make sure we hire qualified individuals who are physically and mentally ready to serve.”

There will be food trucks, a live DJ, bouncy houses, face painting, backpack giveaways, and static displays of cutting-edge equipment. Members of S.W.A.T., mounted patrol, K-9, and more will also be present, and there will be a Q&A session for the applicant’s family members at approximately 9 a.m.
