Commander Ryan Mehling has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 2000. As a Deputy, Mehling worked in the Detention Division, Transport Unit, Uniform Field Operations, Domestic Violence Unit and Forgery Unit. While working Forgery, Mehling was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2007 and worked in the Detention Division and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE 287g). While in ICE, Mehling was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2013 and served in Internal Affairs. He was then promoted to the rank of Major in 2016 and served in the Criminal Investigations Unit.
In September of 2019, Mehling was appointed to the rank of Commander and serves as the Assistant Division Commander of the Field Operations Division.
Commander Mehling graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2000 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He is married with one child and attends St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Marietta.
