Colonel Nat Nation


Colonel Nat Nation has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 1994. As a Deputy, Nation worked in the Detention Division, Uniform Field Operations, Court Security, Fugitive and was assigned to SWAT in 1995. While working Fugitive, Nation was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2002 and worked in the Detention Division, Uniformed Field Operations, and SWAT. While in the Field Operations, Nation was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2009 and served in the Detention Division, Sheriff’s Office Training Unit, and SWAT. He was then promoted to the rank of Major in 2014 and served in Uniform Field Operations as a Watch Commander and SWAT.


In September of 2016, Nation was appointed to the rank of Lt. Commander and served as the Assistant Division Commander of the Field Operations Division. In 2018 he was assigned the rank of Commander and oversees the Field Operations Division and Commander of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team. In January 2019 he was promoted to the rank of Colonel.


Colonel Nation grew up in Blairsville Ga. and graduated from Union County High School in 1989. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College in Dahlonega in 1993.
