Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Assists U.S. Marshals In Murder Suspect Arrest
MARIETTA, GA – On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 8, Cobb County Sheriff Deputies assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division Fugitive Unit assisted the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in arresting Tyrell Daniels in the area of Creekside Drive, Kennesaw, GA. Daniels is wanted on murder charges by Iredell County, North Carolina.
As the U.S. Marshals made entry into the residence, Daniels retreated to the attic and refused to comply with verbal commands to exit the attic space. Cobb County Sheriff Deputies and U.S. Marshals evacuated the apartment building for the safety of the residents. Multiple Cobb County Sheriff Deputies and Cobb County Police Officers arrived on scene to assist with perimeter security and security of the evacuated residents.
The U.S. Marshals continued to give verbal commands to Daniels to exit the attic. After several attempts to coax Daniels out of the attic, the U.S. Marshals deployed a chemical irritant into the attic space. The deployment of the irritant triggered the fire alarms in the building. After a brief struggle, Daniels was removed from the attic space. No bystanders or law enforcement officers were injured during the arrest.
Daniels was treated on scene by Cobb County Fire personnel for exposure to the chemical irritant and nonlife-threatening injuries. Daniels was transported to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Sheriff Owens thanks the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force for their diligent work and determination to keep dangerous criminals off the street. The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office also thanks the Cobb County Police Department and Cobb County Fire Department for their assistance and professionalism on today’s scene.
