Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Narcotics Unit
Press Release
On December 5, 2008, with the assistance
of the Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna (MCS)
Narcotics Unit, the Atlanta Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency
and the FBI Gang Task-Force closed down a substantial Methamphetamine Operation
in Cobb County.
The three men arrested by MCS
Agents were running a clandestine laboratory used to produce crystal methamphetamine,
commonly referred to as ice.
Irvin
Monje Maldonado (19 yoa)
Geder Arroyo (24 yoa)and Emerich Arroyo-Mata (27 yoa) were
arrested at a residence located on Windy
Ridge Parkway in Cobb County
and were taken into custody without incident. When MCS
Agents arrested the men, they found approximately 51 pounds of suspected
Methamphetamine, 8 pounds of suspected Cocaine and miscellaneous laboratory
items and precursors. Approximately 100 pounds of liquid product was also discovered
and seized from the location.
Each
of the suspects are charged with several counts of
trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine.
Both are in custody at the Cobb County Jail without bond.
MCS was formed in March, 1980, and includes personnel from the Cobb County
Sheriff’s Office, Cobb County Department of Public Safety, Marietta Police
Department, Smyrna Police Department, Acworth Police Department, Kennesaw
Police Department, Powder Springs Police Department, Cobb County District
Attorney’s Office, Cobb County Solicitor’s Office and the Georgia National
Guard.
