On Thursday, September 3, 2009 Sheriff’s Sgt. Christopher Lee was awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart Citation for the events surrounding November 28, 2005 where he was shot serving a warrant in East Cobb.

Vice Commander Jim Yancey, Public Safety Officer with the Military Order of the Purple Heart, presented the award to Lee and stated that it is one of his priorities as Vice Commander to recognize law enforcement personnel throughout Georgia who have been injured in the line of duty.  Sheriff Warren applauded the organization for their efforts and appreciated the Organization presenting Sgt. Lee a citation.  “It is the good Lord’s will that Lee is with us today “said Warren.  “For a while it was touch and go but Chris is a strong person, both physically and mentally and it was his determination that pulled him through this injury.”

The organization known as the Military Order of Purple Heart was formed in 1932 and recognizes Military and Public Safety Officers wounded or killed in the line of duty.
