Sheriff’s Office Apprehends Fugitive

     On Thursday, April 17th at approximately 11:00 pm, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect accused of fatally shooting a South Cobb High School student.   Rodger Jackson, Jr., 16 yoa, of Mableton has been charged with the murder of Joshua C. Burroughs, 18 yoa of Marietta.  The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 16th around 4:25 pm. at 6085 Hotel Street in Austell.

 

 

     According to Sheriff Neil Warren, the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit received the warrant Wednesday and worked diligently throughout the day to apprehend the suspect.  Following several leads, Fugitive Investigators and Sheriff’s deputies located Jackson in an apartment located off of Six Flags Parkway.  He was taken into custody without incident. 

 

            Although Jackson is 16, due to the nature of the offense, according to District Attorney Pat Head, he will be charged as an adult.  He is currently housed at the Marietta Youth Detention Center and is being held without bond.
