Choi Kwang Do International Celebrates 20th Anniversary

 

 

            On Saturday, March 3rd, Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren welcomed over 2,000 participants and dignitaries at the Choi Kwang Do International seminar and banquet held at the Galleria.  Choi Kwang Do Martial Arts International was founded by Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi in 1987.  There are currently over 400 schools located in 40 countries including Russia, Australia and England. 

 

            In honor of the 20th anniversary of Choi Kwang Do International, Sheriff Warren presented to the Grandmaster at the opening ceremonies a commendation from Governor Sunny Perdue recognizing the positive impact he has had on the many children and adults who have participated in his unique martial arts training.  Lt. Governor Casey Cagle also sent a letter applauding the efforts of Grandmaster Choi and his commitment and dedication to his students. Sheriff Warren was the Keynote Speaker at the Banquet and further recognized Grand Master Choi’s contribution not only to the business community but the citizens of Georgia.

           

            Grandmaster Choi, a ninth degree black belt, was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame for the Tae Kwan Do Times Magazine and was proclaimed the 2006 Founder of the Year.  He recently celebrated his 65th birthday and continues to be actively involved in overseeing the daily operations of Choi Kwang Do International which is headquartered in Cobb County. 

 

            Choi Kwang Do is an art that not only teaches self defense, but focuses on cardiovascular, flexibility, as well as self-discipline.   It is a unique program based on modern scientific principles from human anatomy.  The components are: physiology (the branch of biological sciences dealing with the functioning of organisms), psychology (the science of mental life), kinesiology (the branch of physiology that studies mechanics and anatomy in relation to human movement), neurophysiology (the branch of neuroscience that studies the physiology of the nervous system) and biomechanics (human movement science).
