Cobb Sex Offender Arrested

     On Thursday, February 24, 2011 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Field Services Unit, along with the Georgia Department of Corrections Marietta Probation Office, conducted a residence verification check on Taurean Maurice Green, a Registered Sex Offender.  Green, 28 yoa of Mableton, GA was previously convicted in 2003 on charges of Aggregated Child Molestation (F) and Statutory Rape (F).

     As Deputies verified Mr. Green’s information, use of illegal narcotics was observed.  A Search Warrant was subsequently issued resulting in the discovery of approximately 2.40 pounds of Marijuana and 26 tabs of Ecstasy (MDMA).  Three firearms (hand guns) were also seized during the search.

     The suspect was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with

Violation of Probation (F), Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute (F) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (F).  Green is currently in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and has no bond.
