COBB COUNTY SHERIFF’S  OFFICE PRESS RELEASE

Fugitive Apprehended in Texas

            On Tuesday, February 21, 2007 one of Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted was arrested by U. S. Border Patrol Agents and Jim Hogg County Texas Sheriff’s Deputies.   Ramiro S. Velazquez, 23 years of age, was arrested during a traffic stop in Hebbronville, Texas as he was attempting to re-enter the United States.

            The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit has been pursuing Velazquez, who is charged with Murder (F) and Aggravated Assault with a Weapon (F) since July of 2006.  According to the warrant, Velazquez shot and killed Elvis P. Molina with a handgun on Benson Poole Rd. in Smyrna.     Velazquez currently awaits extradition from Texas.  When extradition proceedings are completed, he will be returned to Cobb County to face pending charges. 

            Through diligent investigative efforts and the cooperation of   local and other law enforcement agencies, three other of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted:  Warren Woodley Smith, 25 yoa,  (murder felony); Marlon Bray a/k/a Marlon Wright,  32 yoa (Murder Felony)  and Troy Jackson, 28 yoa (Rape, aggravated child molestation, child molestation and aggravated sexual battery) have been apprehended in the last week.
