Fugitive Apprehended in North Carolina

 

                        On Monday, January 22, 2007 one of Cobb County’s Most Wanted, Noel Vasquez AKA Noel Basquez, was arrested on information provided by the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit.  F.B.I. Agents apprehended Vasquez at a Mobile Home Park located in Cullowhee, North Carolina at approximately 7:30 pm.  Mr. Vasquez is in the custody of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office located in Asheville, North Carolina.

            Vasquez, 24 years of age, of Marietta, GA. has been on the run since May 27, 2006 when he was involved in a hit and run accident with a horse-drawn carriage occupied by two newly wed passengers on Powder Springs Street in Marietta.  As a result of the accident, the driver of the carriage, Clint Small, suffered severe injuries and was taken to Kennestone Hospital. 

            According to the warrant, taken by the Marietta Police Department, Vasquez was charged with driving without a license, following too closely, open container, and hit and run.   He is currently awaiting extradition from Buncombe County, North Carolina.  When extradition proceedings are completed, Vasquez will be returned to Cobb County to face pending charges.
