Sheriff appoints additional Command Staff

            On Wednesday, January 7, 2009, Sheriff Neil Warren announced the appointments of two Majors as well as the promotion and reassignment of several other Sheriff’s Deputies within the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.  The promotions will be effective Sunday, January 11th.

             “The opportunity to promote personnel who have worked hard and proven themselves within this agency is one of my most rewarding duties as Sheriff” stated Sheriff Warren.  “It is indeed an honor and a privilege to appoint Major Michael Reece and Major Roland Craig as additions to my Command Staff.  The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office is fortunate to have many dedicated individuals with  training, qualifications and professional experience necessary to manage our duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently:“

           

            Major Michael Reece has been employed with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office since August of 1983.  Reece was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April of 1994 and the rank of Lieutenant in 2004.  In his new position as Major, he is assigned to the Operations Division and will be under the command of Chief Investigator, Col. Milton Beck. For the past several years, Reece has been in charge of the Sheriff’s Office Fraud and Forgery Unit, has done an exceptional job and is often asked to speak to organizations regarding one of America’s fastest growing crimes - Identity Theft.  He is a member of East Point Masonic Lodge #288 and has been a resident of Cobb County since 1965.

 

            Major Roland Craig has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 1986 and has been assigned to every Division.  He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1989 and the rank of Lieutenant in 1995.  As a Major, he is assigned to the Administrative Services Division and will serve under the command of Col. Donald Bartlett.  Craig holds a degree from Augusta State University and is a graduate of the 2005 Leadership Cobb Program.  He also received a Certificate of Public Management from the University of Georgia‘s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. 

 

            Sergeant Temetris Atkins and Sergeant Sonya Allen are promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and will be assigned to the Detention Division under the command of Col. Lewis Alder.   Deputies Daniel Colson, Rhonda Anderson,Clayton Bentley, and Donald Gwin have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
