Essential Functions
• Under general supervision, perform responsible
duties and functions related to law enforcement, which vary substantially based
upon assignment
• Provide for the safety of the County’s population through a wide variety of
duties and responsibilities, using knowledge, skills and abilities
Detention Assignment
• Manage all aspects of safety and security housing a large inmate population,
including direct contact with inmates
Operations Assignment
• Perform duties in all aspects of traditional law enforcement including
service of process, traffic, investigations, security for courts and serving of
arrest warrants
Minimum Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must pass a written examination
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must have no felony convictions
• Must pass a polygraph examination
• Must pass a physical examination
• Must pass a psychological examination
• Must pass an oral interview board

written examination for the position of Deputy Sheriff is administered twice a
month at the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Facility located at 1825 County Services Parkway. The Tuesday test begins promptly at
