Colonel Robert Willard has been serving the citizens of Cobb County since 1989 as an employee of the Sheriff’s Office. As a deputy, Colonel Willard worked in the Detention Division, the Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Narcotics Task Force, and the Field Operations Division. While serving in the Field Operations Division, he achieved the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Major. From 2007 2009 he was a Watch Commander in the Detention Division. In 2009 he returned to Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Narcotics Task Force as Unit Commander for the next 4 ½ years. In conjunction with his other duties from 1995-2002, he also held a position on the Sheriff’s Office Tactical Operations Unit (SWAT), as a countersniper. In June of 2013 Willard was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, serving as the Assistant Division Commander of Field Operations Division and the SWAT Commander until his appointment of Assistant Chief Deputy in January 2016.
As a long time Cobb County resident he has attended Kennesaw State University, completed Cobb County Management Development Program (EXCEL) and is a graduate of the Leadership Cobb Program.
